The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company (NASDAQ: GT) will award $5,500 in grants to middle school students and teachers during the 19th annual Goodyear STEM Career Day. More than 1,000 students, accompanied by parents and teachers from across the Northeast Ohio area will visit Akron's Firestone Community Learning Center on Saturday, May 6 for the event.
Who: You will have the opportunity to interact with groups of students, parents, teachers and business leaders from Northeast Ohio who will attend this event. Several universities, along with 24 corporations will have representatives present for an informational fair and hands-on demonstrations to help students learn more about careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).
What: Students will rotate through a series of panel demonstrations conducted by local organizations. They will then be challenged with a hands-on competition requiring use of engineering acumen to design and build a tower that could withstand the force of an earthquake. The day will end with the announcement of scholarship and Rube Goldberg Challenge™ grant winners awarded by Brandy Moorhead, Goodyear's director of tire and mold engineering.

When: Saturday, May 6, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
