--Tiremaker's airship departs Los Angeles for second U.S. cross-country tour
LOS ANGELES, July 12, 2018 – Goodyear Blimp Wingfoot Two departs from Los Angeles today on a 2,600-mile journey across the United States. The airship will venture east across eight states on its second cross-country tour in the past year. Wingfoot Two is scheduled to fly over Tucson, Arizona; Deming, New Mexico; Hobbs, New Mexico; Fort Worth, Texas; Fayetteville, Arkansas; St. Louis, Missouri; and Indianapolis, Indiana. Fans in cities and towns throughout the entire region will be able to spot Goodyear's aerial ambassador overhead.
The mission is a direct transit from California to Ohio and is expected to span nine days from July 12 through July 20, weather-permitting. The blimp's final destination will be Goodyear's Wingfoot Lake Airship Base outside of Akron, Ohio, where the company has built more than 300 blimps since 1917.
Since arriving in the Los Angeles area in October 2017, Carson-based Wingfoot Two has covered the 129th Rose Parade, the 104th Rose Bowl, the 75th Golden Globes and 90th Academy Awards red carpets; PGA Tour stops across California and Arizona; NASCAR races; and the NBA Finals, Western Conference Finals and All-Star Game.
Launched in 2016, Wingfoot Two is the second of a new generation of Goodyear blimps, which includes Florida-based Wingfoot One, and Ohio-based Wingfoot Three.
