GOODYEAR WINS BOMBARDIER ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT FITMENT
• Goodyear Aviation will supply Flight Radial tire for new Bombardier Global 7000 and Global 8000 business aircraft.
• Goodyear Flight Radial tire contains lightweight alloy bead technology.
• Goodyear and Bombardier enjoy long-standing relationship.

AKRON, Ohio, May 23, 2012 – The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company continues to expand its line-up of original equipment aircraft fitments.

The tire manufacturer has announced that it will supply its Goodyear Flight Radial tire to the new Bombardier Global 7000 and Global 8000 business aircraft, which are scheduled to enter service in 2016 and 2017, respectively.

Goodyear will provide Bombardier with nose and main radial tires for both the original equipment and replacement channels, according to Bert Aertssen, general manager, global aviation, Goodyear. “This award underscores Goodyear’s commitment to providing the industry with revolutionary radial tire solutions with the incorporation of alloy core bead technology,” he said.

Alloy bead technology “reduces the weight of a tire by replacing the steel core of the tire’s bead area with lighter, alloy-like aluminum,” Aertssen noted. “It will contribute to the Global 7000 and Global 8000 jets achieving improved fuel efficiency and performance.”

“Goodyear has been a valued supplier for many years, having provided original equipment tires for our fleet of CRJ Series regional jets,” said Marie-Helene Pelletier, vice president, supply chain, business aircraft, Bombardier Aerospace. “Goodyear also has been the chosen tire supplier for our Learjet 40, Learjet 45, Learjet 60, Challenger 300, Global 5000 and Global 6000 business aircraft. We are pleased to expand our existing supply agreement with Goodyear to incorporate tires for our new Global 7000 and Global 8000 jets.”

“This new supply agreement is a very important next step in the continuation of the long-standing relationship between Bombardier and Goodyear, and is further validation of Goodyear’s commitment to industry-leading products and services,” said Charles Fellingham, area sales manager, aviation products, Goodyear. “We look forward to providing our Flight Radial tire for the Global 7000 and Global 8000 aircraft.”
